Arunachal youth becomes victim of ‘racial attack’ in Bengaluru: MLA
ITANAGAR, Jan 9: A youth from Arunachal Pradesh was admitted in a Bengaluru hospital "in a racial attack case" and his condition was serious, an Arunachal MLA has alleged following his talks with authorities in the southern city.
Khuadun Khangham, who was working in a restaurant in Bengaluru, was assaulted by miscreants and then thrown out of a moving vehicle on January 7, the MLA from Kanubari said.

Initially it was presumed to be a hit and run case. But after investigation, it is emerging that Khangham was thrown out of a running vehicle, Wangsu said quoting the police from Bengaluru.
He said it was not any accident but a "murderous attack, racial attack".
Wangsu said he informed the matter to Delhi Police IGP Robin Hibu, who is from the NE region, requesting him to talk to police authorities in Karnataka, and he did.
Wangsu said that according to Karnataka police, it was a case of assault and CCTV footages were being scanned.
"The case has been prioritized by the police and a senior police officer visited the patient today," he added.
We have requested the state Chief Minister Pema Khandu to speak to his Karnataka counterpart on the issue, Wangsu said, adding that North East students in Bengaluru would meet the police authorities there.
State DGP Sandeep Goel also informed the matter to the Commissioner of Police in Bengaluru and an ACP level officer was asked to look into the assault case on Khangham, he said.
Wangsu also appealed to the people in the state to extend financial assistance for the treatment of Khangham, who belong to a poor family. (PTI)
State media reaches out to Wakka fire victims, distributes relief amount

ITANAGAR, Jan 9: The state media fraternity on Sunday, managed to reach out to the fire affected people of Wakka village in Longding district with the relief amount put together by Arunachal Press Club (APC) and Tezuvian. An elderly woman was charred to death and at least 54 houses and two churches were gutted in a devastating fire at Wakka village on December 22 last.

Acknowledging the solidarity extended by the people of Arunachal, the Village Chief said, "We are so thankful to the people of Arunachal for standing up for Wakka in our hour of crisis, their love and support for Wakka will always be remembered."
Representing the fire victims, Nokchap Pansa, one the fire victims, appealed to the district administration to provide mechanism to encash the relief amount provided by the government in cheque. Nokchap informed that affected people are facing difficult to encash the cheque amount as majority of victims lost their passbook in the fire.
He also appealed to the state government and district authority to restore drinking water supply in the village, informing water scarcity as a major issue facing the people of Wakka. He further sought the government to provide relief for injured person during the fire accident and also sought to make mobile network functional immediately.

Itanagar Traffic Wardens launch ‘whistle down’ strike

ITANAGAR, Jan 9: Demanding for enhancement of salary, regularization of jobs, promotional opportunities along with job security to all wardens and incentive, the Itanagar Traffic Wardens (ITW) launched indefinite 'whistle down' strike at IG Park Tennis Court, Itanagar from Monday onwards.
Raising slogans against the authority for allegedly failing to fulfil their demands for which they have been fighting for the past six years, protesters threatened to intensify the agitation till their demands are met.
President, ITW, Tarak Habing Charom said that Capital Complex is the only place where the traffic wardens were getting Rs. 7000 per month and despite their service to the city the structure of salary remains the same without any job security. Stating that there must be equal status and equal salary, Charom further asserted that "we seek equal pay for equal job so that we can get rid of the sufferings." He added that their job is very tough but authority is keeping silent on the demand placed by them.
"It is very unfortunate that despite our sincere services we are getting salary less than the traffic wardens in Assam and other parts of the country. We also have family and children to look after and what is the meaning of doing a job which cannot fulfil our daily needs," Charom lamented while urging the state government to stop exploiting traffic wardens.
Secretary, ITW, Loma Tapa said, "We are demanding the government to understand our pain and suffering. They should acknowledge the service we made towards the development of society." He said successive governments had exploited them and made hollow promises.
“The state government is not paying any heed towards our genuine demands and had turned a deaf ear, which ultimately compelled us to hold these mass agitations,” added Tapa. Vowing not to return to their duty until their demands are met, the ITW further threatened to go on continued indefinite strike if the demands were not fulfilled.

ANSU demands sanitation facility in school
ITANAGAR, Jan 9: Apart from shortage of teachers, some of the common problems of schools in the state are lack of sufficient infrastructure and basic sanitation facilities and the Govt. Secondary School, Tarasso was no exception. The school lacked proper sanitation facilities with no separate toilets for boys and girls. There is only one toilet in the school, which is commonly shared by more than 400 pupils and staff of the school, informed the All Nyishi Students' Union (ANSU).
An ANSU team, which visited the school to take stock of the various facilities available in the school, also informed that the school was facing serious threat of caving in anytime. Flooding from the nearby river during rainy season erodes not only the school's premises but also causes damages to the school, ANSU said and urged the concern authority to take protective measures and construct a retaining wall.
ANSU has demanded construction of separate toilets and bathrooms for both boys and girls under Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan within the next two months.

DA restricts movement of heavy vehicles on weak bridges
DAPORIJO, Jan 9: Upper Subansiri district administration has restricted movement of heavy vehicles of more than 10 tons on bridges over Subansiri and Sigin River in the district. The restriction has been imposed keeping in mind the safety of commuters. The bridges are reported to have become weak due to lack of maintenance and years of wear and tear.
Passenger buses with only drivers will be allowed to ply while, the passengers will have to cross the bridges on foot, the order said.
The restriction will remain in force until the bridges are repaired, the district administration said informing that a proposal has been made to the government for early repair of both the bridges. (DIPRO)
NHM enters into agreement with Mediciti Healthcare Services
ITANAGAR, Jan 9: The National Health Mission, GoAP on Monday entered into an agreement with Mediciti Healthcare Services Pvt. Ltd., Hyderabad for maintenance of biomedical equipments across the Public Health facilities, upto the PHC level. The agreement was signed by Mission Director, PN Thungon in presence of Special Secretary (H&FW), Prince Dhawan and Director of Health Services, Dr. Moji Jini.
The programme would come in force within six months as the mapping and tagging of all the inventories have started. Under the programme, Mediciti Healthcare Services Pvt. Ltd., Hyderabad would administer all maintenance activities on behalf of state health department. It will perform preventive maintenance of all medical equipments under the contract and calibration of medical equipments wherever applicable. The Biomedical Equipments Maintenance Programme would boost the health care service delivery across the state by making available functional biomedical equipments in all the public health facilities.

DAPORIJO, Jan 9: Upper Subansiri Deputy Commissioner, AK Singh emphasized the need for a better internet connection in the district for flawless electronic payment. Explaining the importance and benefits of electronic or cashless transaction in an awareness meeting at Singik Hall here on Jan 7 last, Singh said that cashless transaction would help check money laundering, black money, counterfeit notes and curb funding to the terrorist organizations. More importantly, it would reduce rush in the bank, he said.

Cent percent schemes implementation sought
ITANAGAR, Jan 9: The East Kameng District Youth Congress has demanded 100 percent
implementation of all the centrally sponsored and state annual development agenda
schemes (SADA)-
In its memorandum submitted to the DC condemning pick and choose policy in awarding the works, it insisted that schemes amounting to Rs. 10 crores and above should be invited for open NIT/TENDER through all leading newspapers.
Further, saying that MLALAD funds should be implemented in priority sectors like health, education and road connectivity in all the constituencies, the Youth Congress said that it would closely monitor all the schemes in the district.

Give BRO and GREF due credit
The killing of three civilians working as labourers with General Reserve Engineer Force (GREF) in Jammu and Kashmir during a terrorist attack is shocking and extremely condemnable. As per the report a group of terrorists attacked a GREF camp in Batal area of Akhnoor sector in Jammu district along the Line of Control in the wee hours on Monday. The incident has drawn sharp reaction. Led by Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti the state government has strongly condemned the incident. For years Jammu and Kashmir along with some states of North East region has been battling serious insurgency problem.
But attacks on organizations like GREF and BRO has been fewer. These people are engaged in constructing road in the most hostile region of the country. Apart from the danger they face from insurgency group, the difficult terrain also pose serious threat to their life. Most of the hilly region of North East and J&K has got road connectivity due to dedication and sacrifice of the BRO and GREF. Therefore it's extremely heinous on the part of terrorist to kill those innocent labourers who were busy working to make life better for the people of Kashmir. These terrorists claim to be fighting for Kashmiri people but how do they explain their act of killing those who were engaged in making life better for the very people for whom they claim to be fighting for. It's a really sad day for the whole nation. Also the Government of India needs to give same status to workers of BRO and GREF, the one enjoyed by armed personnel. These people also fight all odds and work for the nation. Let us respect their sacrifice and give them all the honour that they deserve.

Through your esteemed daily I would like to share the problems being faced by the people of Arunachal. The supreme court restored Congress government led former CM Nabam Tuki on 13th July 2016. After few days CM Pema Khandu formed new government with 43 MLAs. After couple of months they jumped to PPA and still they are running here and there to secure their chair. Now only 2 (two) years left to complete the 5 (five) years tenure, but still no any development in AP. All the departments are like rivers of winter season. May be we would have witnessed something if Nabam Tuki had continued as CM after Congress government was restored by the Supreme Court.
MLAs are playing with each other for their position and are forgetting to take care of their respective constituencies. All the promises made during election remains unfulfilled.
But some of MLAs will try to impress the public during remaining two year but people should be aware as they can repeat the same things in future. And some MLAs are jumping this party to that party to secure the party ticket for next election. But I would like to request the party head be aware they can cheat in same way to your party in future.
I just want to request the government to develop and change our state to better place and not to change the party day by day. Kindly change your mind for development not change the party. Hope for the best in days to come. Let's keep fingers crossed for the court hearing on 23 Jan regarding petition filed by APCC.
